Thailand Tourist Visa: Visa on Arrival

The Thai Interior Ministry states that passport holders from specific nationalities can apply for a “Visa On Arrival” at certain immigration checkpoints. These VOA “Visa on Arrival” visas can only be used for the purposes of tourism. They are limited to a specific set of days depending on your nationality. There are certain rule to be met:

1 The applicant for a Visa On Arrival must possess the means to fund himself when in Thailand. They have listed these financial means as being 10,000 per person and 20,000 Baht per family.

2. The applicant for a Visa In Arrival must produce evidence on onward travel (fully paid ticket) which would be usable within the fifteen days since the date of entry.

3. The VOA “Visa on arrival” is provided at only 12 international checkpoints in Thailand and applicants should complete the application forms.

4. A visitor who enters Thailand on a Visa on Arrival generally can’t obtain an extension of stay except in certain cases such as illness which would prevent them from travel. Such an extention would have to be made as the Office of Immigration Bureau.

6. Mae Sai Immigration Checkpoint , Chiengrai

7. Chieng Saen Immigration Checkpoint , Chiengrai

8. Chieng Khong Immigration Checkpoint , Chiengrai

9. Betong Immigration Checkpoint , Yala

10. Sadoa Immigration Checkpoint , Songkla

11. Samui Immigration Checkpoint , Surat Thani

12. Sukhothai International Airport, Tak Immigration checkpoint
