Thailand Tourist Visa

On application a Thailand Tourist Visa will be issued at a Thai embassy or consulate to applicants who wish to enter Thailand for the purposes of tourism. While on a Thai Tourist Visa you are not allowed to work as the purpose of the visa is for tourism only.
The Thai Tourist Visa allows you to stay in the Kingdom for 60 days and can be extended by another 30 days at Thai Immigration in Thailand.

This is needed by anyone who is planning on staying in the Kingdom for tourism purposes. The Thai Tourist Visa allows you to stay longer than what the VOA – (Visa On Arrival) allows you to stay in Thailand. For nationals from countries which are not allowed a VOA the Thai Tourist Visa is needed to enter Thailand. The VOA allows certain nationalities to enter Thailand without a Visa. The VOA is granted at the airport when you arrive and normally allows you a stay of 30 days. See the list of visa exemption by nationality here Visa On Arrival

THAILAND TOURIST VISA – REQUIREMENTS

The Thai Tourist Visa will be issued at a Thai Embassy or Consulate to applicants who wish to enter the Kingdom for the purposes of tourism.

THAILAND TOURIST VISA – DOCUMENTS NEEDED

– Your Passport / Your travel documents which is valid for more than 6 months

– Your completed Tourist Visa application form

– A recent( 40 x 60 mm) photo of yourself

– An Air ticket which has been fully paid

– Documented financial ability to travel (20,000 Baht a person / 40,000 Baht a family)

THAILAND TOURIST VISA – VALIDITY PERIOD

The Tourist Visa is valid for use for two months (single entry) or four months (double entry) excluding any extensions.


THAILAND TOURIST VISA – EXTENSIONS

If you wish to stay longer you may make an application at the Office of Immigration Bureau located on Soi Suan Plu, off South Sathorn Road, Bangkok 10120 , Tel (662) 287-3101-10. The extension as well as any changes of certain visa types is solely at the discretion of the Immigration officer.

THAILAND TOURIST VISA – OTHER

Passport holders from the following countries have to file for an application for a Thailand Tourist Visa in their home countries:

Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Syria, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Algeria, Sudan, Libya, Egypt, Yemen, and the Palestinian States.
